There’s nothing more anyone hates than dry skin … but winter dry skin? Absolutely not! It is no secret that weather can drastically impact our skin. Those of us with dry skin on a normal day, get hit the hardest when the temperature and dry air deplete our skins natural moisture. All skin types will feel the change but with the right routine and habits, your skin will not suffer.
Say no to chapped, flakey, dry, cracked, and non-radiant skin this winter season and say yes to happy, glowing skin with these simple, healthy habits.
1. Hook up a Humidifier
Nothing screams winter then the cold, dry air that will make your skin feel patchy, dehydrated, and itchy. Adding moisture to the air will act as a natural moisturizing agent which will relieve dryness in your skin!
2. Moisturize more
Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! When in doubt, moisturize again. Serums (both day and night) are an excellent light weight way to not only moisturize but, deeply penetrate into the skin and deliver targeted active ingredients that can help improve your skin’s overall appearance.
3. Exfoliate in moderation
Moderation is key in adjusting to seasonal changes. Exfoliating can be harsh and dry out your skin but will help remove dead, flaky skin when done properly. We recommend using a natural, gentle, homemade exfoliator. A detoxifying cleansing bar is a a great, gentle way to remove impurities and help prepare for skin for the benefits of your serum or moisturizer.
4. Drink UP!
It is no secret that the best skincare comes from within. Avoid dehydrated skin by drinking lots of fluids. Keep your skin moist and healthy this winter by aiming to consume 6-8 OZ of liquid daily, we recommend water but any is better than none.
Tip: Carry a water bottle with you at all times and watch drinking water become a habit!
5. Don’t skip your lips!
The skin on your lips is the thinnest layer of your face making it the quickest to react to winter weather. Avoid chapped lips this season by lathering up Lip Mask day and night. Not all balms are made equally, and it is important to use a lip product that will not only will keep your natural moisture barrier intact but will also penetrates the skin to actually hydrate and soothe chapped lips.
5. Short and sweet showers
We know, nothing sounds better than a hot shower on a cold day, but it can lead to dry, itchy, skin afterward. Skip the long hot shower and instead keep it short and warm. Remember to Moisturize with Body Oil after!
